I want thOse wings!!!Yesterday, went to the schOol library..
Me and khai went there to meet up wif the gurls who were already there..
Intended to have a meeting to discuss on our CE tech group assignment..
Very brief and i gOt the hardest part.. weightage was 20 marks
But i like hard challenges.. as always..
Then went ard the library to loOk for boOks on War, military and guesse wat i gOt??
BAND OF BROTHERS, written by Stephen E. Ambrose..
Most of you have watched the B.O.B televisiOn series that was broadcast on Channel 5 This boOk is the original adaptiOn of the T.V series..
The bOok contains personal accounts and experiences of WWII veterans, all from the 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 101st Airborne Division, Easy Company
The first chapters brings me thru on how the 101st Airborne division came about, with all the soldiers coming from all over America with different backgrounds..
The chapters alsO tells me how badly the volunteers wanted the airborne wings..
The men would trade their very lives for having that silver wings pinned on their top left pocket..
After reading 7 chapters of this book, i reliased that i also wanted that airborne wings toO..
Not because of foolowing others but more of personal pride and achievement..
The NCC organise the Basic Airborne Course once every year and i threw away the chance to go for it when it presents itself.. FurthermOre i was ill-prepared physically, mentally and i was working at that time.. By the time i knew abt it, it was already to late..
Now, i am preparing myself to go for the BAC. No matter what it takes, i will have that airborne wings..
Friends around me sometimes asked me why is that silver wings so important to me...
I said that they don't what it feels like to jump out of a plane with the wind gushing thru your face.. The experience is invaluable..
